It's YOU! Hello! Nice to see you! Here you will find stuff about living a creative life in country Australia. I create with watercolour, pen, collage, mixed media and photos. I teach, hosts workshops, collect, dream. I love cheese, travel, my garden, faffing, colour and whimsy. I am crap at time management, and do way too many things, but it is all good. Oh yes, all pictures and photos on here by me too, just saying.

LIFE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO BE WONDERFUL

With love in your heart, for Instagram Feb.  2014. watercolour, felt, confetti

Lovehearts. Again. Rainbows. Again. Watercolour. Again.

This was for another #7vignettes challenge on Instagram, from INTERIORS ADDICT (yes, a link!)  The word prompt was 'heart'. I fell back onto the familiar for this one.Lazy!

A bit gooey and sweet and sentimental A bit saccharine sweet. Yes, I know...

But, I guess it is true. I guess I am trying to believe t myself. I guess I gotta believe it!
I recently finished a commission that with a rainbow, that was probably the reason i fell into doing this one...see below. But I really liked the sentiment that i was asked to include...

As I sit here in my Flannellette PJ's,listening to my music and the rain outside pattering on the tin  roof of my lovely home, and me all snug in here,in the studio, and down the hall,  my family: safe, happy and healthy...I need to remember this more often.

RETRO+THRIFTED+NEON+CASSETTES=LOVE THE 80'S

   RETRO+THRIFTED+NEON+CASSETTES=LOVE THE 80'S

WOOOHOOOO!

See what I fount at my local oppy shoppy the other day?!

Waves of pure nostalgia...boomboxes, cassette decks, taping the top 10 from the radio, walkmans, reels of tape getting twisted and using a pencil to wind them back up again.

Music for pleasure! Indeedy...So when I saw these, sitting unloved on the op shop shelf, of course I HAD to take them home.Memories flooding back, tripping out on how quaint they are, but how ultra hip and modern they used to be.My mind racing with the potential photos and drawings, watercolours, collages they could inspire. And they came in a stand too!
Orange!
All this for one dollar.

$1

I am a girl easily pleased. Obviously

SEWING SPOTS AND DOTS

oO SEWING SPOTS AND DOTS Oo
I do not know why.Just because the itch to MAKE happened.
I must add,a disclaimer if you like...
I AM NOT A SEWER!
But, yes, it is all hand-sewn.

So this is spotty dotty thing technically probably/ totally/ no doubt,is imperfect.Yes, it is all hand-sewn.But...

This idea has actually been percolating in my head for awhile now...as a direct correlation between some paper dots and spots and pebbles I collaged last year perhaps???

And then buying an entire sewing box,second-hand... complete and resplendent with darning needles, embroidery needles, all sorts of other needles, embroidery threads, pins, bric-a-brac, quick-un-piks...

And the joy of colour..and  the felt squares in lots of them, stacked high at the little material shop in our little mall, in our little town.

Finally all these things aligned with the sofa and time goddess to nudge me into action.
So I DID.
This very weekend, in fact.
And now, framed and finished.
A little bit proud, actually!
